2 weeks down

How's it going? "THEY" say it takes between 7-10 days to break or form a habit.  Do you feel new habits forming and old ones dissapearing?? I am amazed already at the transformation most of you are making physically! Not only that your gains in the gym are incredible!! Its amazing that it has only been 2 weeks and you are all improving so much...i can't wait to see what you can do in week 5??!

Now I know we probably all have had our moments of weakness...I know I have.  Don't let one cheat throw you off completely.  Remember this is a lifestyle.  I hope you are learning something new every day about your connection with food.  A huge part of this new lifestyle is training your MIND as well as your BODY.  Really pay attention to those weak moments; why are you struggling? what is it that you really need? Will simple carbs really solve the problem? Most likely the answer is NO.  But you have to fight through those times on your own way.  I tested it this week.

I had just finished my perfectly fine 3 block lunch and felt pretty good.  About 20 min later I thought I was starving again...thought being the key word...of course the only thing I wanted was CHEESE, you all know my weakness to cheese, so I gave in.  Had 1/2 an apple & 1oz of cheese...did I feel better um kinda did it taste good hell yes! For me the metal aspect is get over the "you can't have this" and just eat.  Once I knew 1 oz of cheese wasn't going to kill me, sometimes these challenges make you feel that way about food, I was over it.  Haven't craved it since.  Moral of the story is this is a lifestyle, if you give in learn from it and move on.

Every week I really want you to learn something about YOU.  Pay attention to how certain foods make you feel.  Tired, energenic, not satisfied, ect.  Stop making food the enemy & start thinking of it as your energy source.  How can food be used effectively for YOU?

Cavings VS Hunger

Paleo Recipes

There has been much talk about sharing paleo recipes...how about we compile a book and keep it at the gym?? If you find something or try something that you really like either send it to me or print it out and bring it to the gym.  I'll get a binder and we can all trade recipes.

Happy eating!!

Thanks for all the effort you are putting in Mindy. I know our weakness was spending the night in red lodge after an amazing ski day- and giving into wine. But the good news is that I am over my evening- crave a glass of wiine deal. And I have WAY more energy during the day. Which is making the 8 hour sleep thing totally impossible unless I were to medicate, and that's not a healthy alternative either. Last night I got 6 hours of sleep and I am wired. So I think we need to listen to our bodies for sure. Thanks for inspiring us. My deadlifts still suck but at least I got 20 more than my max today. Now to get my man healthy!

I know what has saved me is the addition of sweet potatoes for breakfast and beets in my lunch- both on the unfavorable list- but it's working.

Peace out!

Thanks for your encouragement Mindy. Im glad I am not the only one with weaknesses. I endulged a little during my travels at the sheep show. I figured since one of our clients offered to buy me a $200 banquet ticket, I should be polite and eat what they served. I didn't want to offend anyone so I ate the whole thing!! And it felt great! BUT, I am back home now and back on track with the challenge. Keep on zonin my friends.

For me if I stay busy it isn't too bad. However, I have realized that although I usually ate good food I ate WAY TOO much. It is easy to justify eating and eating because " I am active". Truth is I was consuming way more then I was burning. I estimate close to 800.
Trouble areas are road trips, movies, and playoff football. But with enough prep and planning I have managed fairly well. It is great motivation to see every body doing so well.
As far as physical changes the biggest I noticed is my recovery. It is better then it has ever been. 2 worouts 3 it doesn't matter. All still have the suck factor, it just doesn't last long afterward.
Thanks for all the inspiration! MM

I am having a hard time I must admit. It's hard to combine portion control when there is nothing on the menu appealing. My own lack of will power. Anyone want to team up with Sarah before she kills me for getting too many penalty points?
